HIDE YOUR FACE IN SHAME, OSUN PDP TELLS AREGBESOLA OVER FAILED TRAILER PARKS AND OTHER ABANDONED PROJECTS

The peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has described as shameful, the recent defence offered by the State government on the issue of a sum of 4.6 billion Naira earmarked for the construction of 4 trailer parks which was never executed.

In a response by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr Adelani Baderinwa, the state government had confirmed the allegation by the PDP that there was indeed a contract awarded for that purpose but was neither paid for nor executed due to some factors.

Picking faults with the state government’s response however , the PDP accused the Governor of leading an administration lacking in visionary planning and discipline; a situation which has resulted into scores of abandoned projects all over the state.

According to the PDP chairman, Hon Soji Adagunodo, the incoherence and grammatical errors contained in the state government’s response is also symptomatic of this lack of attention to details and proper planning.

The PDP chairman contended that if proper evaluation and due diligence had been applied, the company’s incompetence to handle a 4.6 billion Naira contract would have been detected early enough.

“Except if the whole process was to lay the foundation for the subsequent looting of state resources under the guise of private investors bringing in their funds as an excuse for outsourcing contracts, the company which got that contract like many others lack technical and financial capacity to deliver”

“Even when private investors are to be brought in to execute such projects, the ideal procedure would have been to advertise in order to expand the bidding base and ensure value for money. It is inappropriate for government to grant concessions for open ended time frames. If land was the only committment as claimed by the Commissioner, what has happened to that component now?”

The PDP recalls that Ogbeni Aregbesola similarly admitted on the last edition of Ogbeni till daybreak that a project tagged O-HUB which gulped billions of Naira had also failed.

While the Governor attempted to shift the blame of his failure on O-HUB to poor farmers in Osun state, enlightened members of the public know that the cause of that failure was the government’s penchant for awarding frivolous contracts solely for the purpose of patronising his Lagos-based friends rather than empowering the people of Osun state.

The PDP said rather than taking pride in blaming everyone except himself for these litany of failed and abandoned projects, the State Governor should rather show courage by admitting his failure and apologising to the millions of Osun citizens whose hope he had dashed through various fake promises in the last 7 and a half years.
